- Czech nymph style pattern
- Not the Egan's Frenchie
- Used to imitate caddis larva with a hot spot
This is an interesting one. This is not the "Frenchie" we all know and love but this pattern has been in the commercial catalogs as long as I can remember and long before Lance Egan popularized the hot spot pheasant tail that we all now call an "Egan's Frenchie". No, Lance Egan did not design the original frenchie. We assume it's from France and the French? We do know that it came from the European competitive scene. Either way, this another variation of a hot spot nymph that is also called the Frenchy and it's been called this for a very long time. This Czech nymph variation can be used to imitate a large variety of aquatic insects and will likely most often get used as caddis larva.
