The Ray Charles was developed on the Bighorn river in Montana by local guides. The Ray Charles name comes from how effective the fly was with guides often saying, "This fly works so well even a blind person could catch a fish". The Ray Charles is often used as a scud or sowbug pattern on many of the tailwater fisheries. The soft hackle version adds a realistic look at the swimming action often seen when clouds of sowbugs are moving through the grass.
