The original Walt's Worm was created by Walt Young in 1984 who designed the fly for Pennsylvania's spring creeks. Later competitive angler Loren Williams adapted the fly to include flash and a tungsten bead which allowed the fly to get down in the water column much quicker. Originally the pattern was developed to imitate crane fly larvae and was tied in a size 12. Today this fly has been adapted for western nymphing and Euro techniques and represents everything from mayflies to caddis.
