Some anglers hate and even refuse to fish tiny dry flies. They complain that they can't see them and that they don't float. There is no question in my mind that they miss out on some of the best dry fly fishing sessions of the year. Lots of fish, even large ones, rise to tiny flies at times. From late winter into the spring and again in late summer and into the fall, midges are often on the menu. In late summer, tiny Trico mayflies often hatch in prodigious numbers, creating large pods of feeding fish. Stanton's Foam Cut Midge/Trico solves two of the problems that plague anglers. The foam wing is highly visible, so anglers can actually follow the drift of their fly and see when a fish eats it. The foam wing does not absorb water, so it floats very well and the fly dries quickly with a single false cast. If you are an angler that won't fish a tiny fly for the visibility and floatability problems stated, you should seriously consider giving the Foam Cut Midge/Trico a try. Then you won't have to keep missing out on some of the best dry fly fishing of the year.
