Fly Shop Manager, KRISTOPHER JAMES
Kristopher grew up with a fishing rod in hand, making cherished memories on the water with his father. As a child, he could never sleep the night before opening day of lake fishing season, buzzing with anticipation. A graduate of Mead High School, Kristopher went on to pursue his culinary passion at the Culinary Institute of America, becoming a trained chef and sommelier.
After several years living in New York City, he returned to Washington in 2008 and was gifted his first fly rod—a moment that sparked his love for fly fishing. Today, he owns property on Deer Lake, where he and his younger brother chase bass on the fly. One of his most unforgettable fishing adventures was a birthday trip to Alaska, where he landed both his first steelhead and king salmon.
Now, Kristopher is returning to his roots at the new Mead House of Fly, blending his deep love of fishing, food, and community.
