House of Fly has added a ton of new fly-tying items this winter and we're excited to share with you some of our favorites. In this video, Ethan Crawford, i.e., Crawdad, who manages our West Great Falls, Montana store, outlines his top picks of new tying products for 2026.
Smhaen Master Dubbing Twister – This is the best dubbing spinner on the market. It has been out for a while now and we have been using the Master Dubbing Spiner for about a year. It spins completely even and tightens up tricky materials quicker and tighter than other dubbing twisters, which allows you to brush them out more consistently. It has a spring in the middle that allows you to open the loop, making it easier to sneak extra materials and/or flash into the loop. The only downside is that it’s expensive, but we think it’s one of those things that you buy a good one once and you won’t regret it.

Moonlit Nutria Zonker Strips and Pine Squirrel Zonker Strips – Surprisingly these are difficult to find items. It’s especially hard to find these strips pre-cut in different widths and packaged straight so they immediately profile perfectly on flies. The Nutria zonker strips are all about the awesome guard hairs, which give you multiple profiles in one material. We have all colors and sizes in stock.

Metz Bugger Bunch – There haven’t been many options for quality hackle besides Whiting Farms (which is still offers the pinnacle product). However, Metz is back in the fold and making a strong comeback in both quality and price point. We love these bugger bunches for their consistency, supple quills, and fine barbs.
