John Barr's Copper John

This nymph is a staple in many fly boxes across the world, it is used to represents stone flies, baetis nymphs, green drakes, it all depends on the color you grab. Also the wire body and flashy wing case makes it a great attractor pattern. With all respect to John Barr's effort to make an excellent generic nymph imitation its weight is the best part of this fly. Heavy's better. Simple as that--the compact weight of the fly brings it down where the fish live.
