Craig Mathews' X2 Caddis

The X2 caddis is a variation of the X caddis that was designed by Craig Mathews and John Juracek. The X2 caddis was updated by Doug and Dan Daufel according to Mathew’s and it was designed as a “spring creek caddis.” It was designed to target the Mother’s Day caddis hatch. The zelon on this fly helps it “float like a cork” and the zelon underwing acts as an outrigger for the fly to float yet sit low in the water column to create the right profile from below.
