El Tigre - Red - 2

The El Tigre is a rendition of the original Intruder tied by Jerry French and Ed Ward. This concept pattern was tied to present a large fly pattern to steelhead and salmon with a small trailing hook. Before the Intruder, large flies were tied on large hooks. These hooks damaged Steelhead for release. Secondly, due to its sparse nature and small hook, the intruder is easier to cast than a large fly with a large heavy hook. Since the 90's this fly has continued to morph and take on different shapes and colors. The Intruder is something that catches the attention of anadromous fish imitating other small fish in their redds hanging around to eat their eggs.
