The caddis emerger should be fished off the back of a dry fly so that it is easy to indicate the strikes. Many times these types of eats are very subtle so it's important you can see what's going on by using a dry fly as an indicator. The CDC is a great material to keep the top part of the fly in the film while the back half of the water is riding subsurface.
