Since 1973, one reel has stood as the true embodiment of Ross Reels: the San Miguel. Synonymous with elegance, performance, and precision, it set the benchmark for refinement in fly reel design. Now, more than 20 years after its original debut, the San Miguel returns—reborn and reimagined.
Handcrafted in our Colorado facility, the new San Miguel merges timeless design with modern innovation. It retains the signature elements that made the original a classic: the high-gloss black finish on a solid-backed frame, the ultra-smooth free spool, a wide-range sealed drag, and the iconic “flower petal” porting that’s become a hallmark of the model.
Newly introduced features elevate this classic to meet today’s standards. A canvas micarta handle—favored in high-end custom knives—offers improved grip in wet conditions. The updated sealed drag system utilizes a carbon and stainless steel stack for smooth yet powerful control. A large-arbor spool, complemented by a machined stainless steel push-button release, combines functionality with striking aesthetics.
