• 490-4: An extremely capable rod for medium sized dry flies and soft hackles, the 9-foot, 4-weight CLASSIC R8 fishes well in close and also has the ability to carry longer lines. Lightweight and delicate for precise presentations to picky fish on rivers and in stillwater scenarios.
• 590-4: The most versatile of all CLASSIC R8 rods, the 9-foot, 5-weight delivers dry flies and soft hackles of all sizes across small, medium, and large waters with delicacy and accuracy. This rod has enough power to adequately pull on large trout and cut into wind while also providing enough feel and touch to properly play fish on light tippets.
• 690-4: When wide rivers, longer casts, consistent winds, and big and bulky dry flies are in play, the more powerful 9-foot, 6-weight becomes the best-suited rod. The slower pace and action of the CLASSIC R8 family is maintained, but this rod brings an additional energy capacity to lift and carry long lines and ensure fly turnover while also minimizing casting fatigue.

R8 Technology

The advanced, leading-edge material behind R8 enables us to shape a rod with a stiffer, stronger backbone but a more sensitive tip and more connected feel. The secret Is twofold. First, a proprietary aerospace composite with a greater hoop strength enables us to dimensionally grow taper diameter more quickly from the tip—while a nano-sintered resin application increases axial resilience and allows us to pack more fiber into the blank, resulting in that true two-way connection from hand to fly and back for greater feel, flow and control.

New Axial Fiber Formulation

Advanced nano-sintered resin application and a more resilient axial fiber allow us to re-profile the dimensional taper to get thicker quicker from tip to butt - resulting in better energy transfer and greater feel. Simply put - a better and more efficient "wiring" of energy.
