This fly was designed by Dave Student for Tarpon. Student worked for Umpqua Feather Merchantsand understands fly design about as well as anyone. The Megalopsicle is a great fly for shallowwater or mangrove tarpon or snook situations. The fly has beadchain eyes for straight tracking but a deer hair headand back to elevate it slightly above weed lines and grabby mangroveroots. Among tarpon anglers, this flyhas a cult following, and many consider it to be a top 10 tarpon fly design ofall time.
