High Camp Flask
I purchased a stainless-steel High Camp Flask last summer, mainly for use on my guided trips . . . because who doesn’t want to celebrate a good catch or a great day with a little nip off the strong stuff? I've received many compliments about the flask, which is just the right size and holds the perfect amount of your preferred potion. The High Camp Flask is also sleek, compact, durable, and keeps said potion cold or warm all day long, up to 12 hours for hot liquid and 24 hours for cold.
The 750 ml version holds an entire bottle of spirits (24.5 ounces) and has two integrated tumblers. One tumbler is in the form of a magnetic cap; another lives at the bottom of the flask which, when removed, makes for very easy cleaning and air-drying. You can also fill the flask from the bottom, which negates the need for a funnel. In addition, the bottom tumbler screws onto the flask and the top tumbler clicks on via the magnet. Rest easy: you are not going to lose those things. This is a great gift for your favorite fishing partner and should bring a wide smile on Christmas morn. 30.5 oz. $129

Nine Lives Fly Line Cleaner
Ballistic’s Nine Lives Fly Line Cleaner might be the best gift you could give to a fly angler. Bold statement, I know, but think about it: How many people actually clean their fly lines? I’m sure there are some do-gooders out there, but let's be serious . . . how many times have you cleaned your fly line? Thought so.
That's why every fly angler’s stocking needs a package of Ballistic’s Fly Line Cleaner. It’s the kind of item most people wouldn’t think of getting for themselves, but when it’s gifted they start using it. Soon they’ll realize just how important it is to have a clean fly line when they hit the water, which allows longer casts and a higher floating fly line all day long. Think about matching hatches and throwing dry flies all day and you’ll understand just how beneficial a clean line can be. Fortunately, this gift doesn’t break the bank: for $10 you get five silicone impregnated patches, each packaged in its own bag. Just one patch affords several cleanings. Stuff a few in your pack and you’re good to go. So, if you have a fly-fisher in the family and you can’t seem to find anything that they don’t already have, give them something they don’t even know they need, the Nine Lives Fly Line Cleaner from Ballistic Fly Lines.
Also, here is a pro tip: the line cleaner works great for keeping ice out of your guides while fishing in near or below freezing weather. Just roll up a patch, work it around your guides, and say goodbye to the ice. $10
Turtlebox Ranger
The Turtlebox Ranger is the answer for those want their tunes to sound seriously good in the outdoors. The Ranger’s compact size (smaller than original Turtlebox speakers) makes it easy to take with, easy to stash out of the way when not needed, and it’s just as durable and nearly unbreakable as previous Turtlebox versions.
You can easily mount the Ranger to a raft or driftboat or even take it on a paddleboard or kayak. Don’t worry about it getting wet or banging around in the boat—the Ranger is fully waterproof, drop-proof and very packable. The Ranger is loud enough to get the party going, but subtle enough to be enjoyed around a campfire when you want to hear the conversation. Being the owner of two Turtleboxes, I can comfortably say that you can leave these in a boat all night, or on a rainy drive home, or around a campfire on a freezing night, and they are always ready to go. Even the battery life is excellent. The Ranger is sure to please anyone who enjoys keeping the tunes close by during their outdoors adventures. 2.4 lbs. $240

RIO Powerflex 3-Pack Tippet Spools
Whoever said good things come in threes must’ve been a fly fisherman because 3-packs of tippet are the perfect gift for anyone who spends time chasing trout! Rio offers up their 3-packs of budget friendly Powerflex Tippet in three combinations that cover everything from big, meaty streamers on 0X to dainty BWOs on 6X. No angler can have enough tippet so whoever gets this gift will appreciate it.
I’ve fished with Rio products for decades now and they have never let me down. One little bonus included with this 3-pack of tippet is the plastic puck it comes in. I’ve used these pucks for storing everything from flies to strike indicators. It’s a win-win! $12.99

THE TROUT SHOP - CRAIG, MT
The SAGA Series Fly Rods
When I got the very first sample 4114 Saga rod for trout spey, my very first cast resulted in a 23-inch brown trout on the Missouri River. I have been in love with Saga rods ever since. We now have Saga rods available in single-hand weights of 5-11 and double-hand in 4-9 weights. I have fished them all for trout, salmon, steelhead, tarpon, sharks, snook, redfish, and other critters.
These rods are designed to be fast, responsive, and light in the hand. They are built with the leading innovative construction and the highest end components you can put on a fly rod. These include a multi-modulus, super-micro, high-density carbon blank using graphene resin and a helical core construction. What does all that mean? This method minimizes the spine found on most rods, decreases the twisting phenomenon, increases the dampening, and leads to precise casting. These rods are stronger, lighter, and more precise than anything we’ve ever built, and they stand up to any rod on the market. That is the SAGA advantage. Single-hand rods are $599 and double-hand rods are $699. The bottom line is they look good, cast great, perform flawlessly, and are priced within reason. $599-$699

HOUSE OF FLY - LEWISTON, ID
Every angler needs a good set of pliers and forceps, and these tools do the job right: they remove hooks safely and easily; crimp down barbs; cut fishing line cleanly; are comfortable in the hand; and they are tough enough to last for many years.
Skinny Water Culture 6.5” Aluminum Pliers
These are the top pick for good reason. The SWCO Aluminum Pliers are built to handle both freshwater and saltwater conditions, so they’ll hold up no matter where your angler likes to fish. They come with a molded leather sheath that clips to a belt, keeping the pliers within easy reach. A stretchable lanyard with a carabiner helps prevent them from being dropped and lost in the water. What really sets these pliers apart is the PTFE-coated jaws (a durable coating like Teflon) and titanium cobalt cutters. This coating resists corrosion, makes cleaning simple, and ensures smooth use over time. The cutters can handle thick fishing line and are replaceable if needed. At just under $60, these pliers offer the performance of models that often cost more than triple that price. $59.99
Dr. Slick 6.5” Typhoon Pliers
The Dr. Slick Typhoon Pliers are another great all-around choice. Like the SWCO, they’re made with anodized aluminum for scratch and corrosion resistance and have replaceable tungsten carbide cutters. They come with a nylon sheath, rather than leather, and a coiled elastic retainer that keeps the pliers secure . . . though the coiled cord can occasionally catch on fishing line. Overall, they deliver excellent quality and durability at a fair price, making them a reliable gift option for any fly fisher. $54.99
Loon Outdoors Rogue Quickdraw Forceps
If you’re looking for something smaller and more affordable, the Rogue Quickdraw Forceps are a great multitool. They feature stainless steel cutters, a built-in needle for clearing hook eyes, and flat jaws for removing hooks. The rubberized grip makes them comfortable to hold, and the integrated carabiner allows them to clip securely to a vest or pack. While they’re best for freshwater use, they can handle occasional saltwater demands if rinsed afterward. Compact, versatile, and budget-friendly, this is a great stocking stuffer for any fly angler. $28
Dr. Slick Crossfire Scissor Clamp
The Crossfire Clamp combines utility and value in a simple tool that every angler can use. They have bright orange rubber grips, stainless steel cutters, and a small screwdriver edge at the base for quick repairs. They don’t include a retainer, so pairing them with a retractable clip is a good idea. These clamps are perfect for freshwater fishing and make an excellent, affordable addition to any angler’s toolkit. $19.99

Fly Agra and Other Fly Dressings
There’s no getting around it: if you fish dry flies you’ll need a fly dressing to keep those bugs riding high and tempting trout because, as we all know, a dry fly that’s sunk when the trout are eating duns, isn’t doing you many favors. When fishing dries, I’m partial to soaking my bugs in Fly Agra, mostly because I think it’s one of the most creative brand names in the fly-fishing realm. I giggle when reading the warning label on the bottle: XXX Fly Agra “If your fly stays up for more than 4 hours consult your local fly shop.” Despite its playful name, Fly Agra is all business on the water.
But, Fly Agra isn’t the only floatant option. Gink is another proven brand that comes in a small bottle with a narrow tube at the top. To apply, remove the cap and squeeze the bottle. A small amount of Gink will come out and can be rubbed on the dry with your fingers. One bottle goes a long way, if you remember to replace the cap; otherwise, your waist pack or sling pack ends up with a very shiny bottom. $4.99
Another great option is High and Dry, which is very effective and environmentally friendly. It comes in a couple options with the High and Dry Floatant Pretreatment designed for use before fishing and the Liquid Gel Floatant intended for on the water use. $13.99; $11.50
Loon Outdoors offers several high-quality dry fly floatants, some in liquid form, some in gel form, and others in a powder form. All of these products are environmentally friendly and work very well. One that stands out (especially if you already have Fly Agra, High And Dry, and/or Gink, is Loon’s powdery Top Ride (also known as "Shake and Bake"), which allows anglers to dip their fly into the powder and then squeeze the fly dry. This product comes in handy after a fly becomes wet from catching a trout or two. Once dropped into the Top Ride, the fly miraculously comes out mostly dry and ready to ride high again. $9.50
Montucky II Reel
The Fly Project’s Montucky reel was as well received as any product the company has ever produced, so it’s no surprise that TFP built on that success. It’s new Montucky II reel is now lighter, smoother, and stronger than the Gen 1 version and available in four sizes, 3/5, 5/7, 7/9, and 9/11. It’s also available in a choice of colors: black, red and copper. The Montucky may not carry the price tag of super high-end reels, but it is fully machined from high-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, offers a solid aluminum handle, super smooth disk drag, a quality neoprene reel cover, and a no-hassle 2-year warranty from The Fly Project. Everyone at the House of Fly has a Montucky II and it has been on nearly all of our travels across the country for the last few years. We love it for its dependability, simplicity to clean, silky-smooth operation, and of course the price tag. While a true fly-fishing enthusiast may have a higher end (i.e., more expensive) reel than the Montucky, every fly fisher needs an extra reel or two for backup purposes, and to have multiple reel/line options when fishing rivers and streams and/or stillwaters. This reel fits that bill. $130-$190 (5-weight black $150)
