House of Fly's 2026 Deadman's Bonefish Camp was a great success, with plenty of bonefish brought to hand. Long Island, Bahamas, is known for large bonefish and it didn't disappoint--lots of three to five-pound bones were landed and all the guests got shots at barracuda, permit and triggerfish, too. Evenings were spent eating authentic Bahamian meals, prepped by a local family. All in all, a rousing success.

Montana's Rocky Mountain Front offers fertile prairie lakes where the trout grow big and the wind blows hard. Although drought has severely diminished trout populations in these reservoirs, there are still some big rainbows to be had. Fred Telleen, who works for The Trout Shop and House of Fly, put the hurt on a half-dozen of those brutes just yesterday.

All flies have a story to tell and this particular fly, the Airhead, partially tells the story of Gary LaFontaine and his battles with the terminal illness ALS. In addition, this story tells how some flies can bring people together, even fathers and daughters who have dealt with the ups and downs of parenthood and the teenage years.

House of Fly's Fred Telleen heads to Montana's Missouri River to test his favorite "grab zones." Unfortunately, the fish aren't there, forcing Telleen to change his tactics and his locations until he finally solves the puzzle. His methodology could help you on the water when your typical tactics fail.

I believe Miami could be the best inner-city fly-fishing community in the United States, with its unlimited waterways and canals, and amazing fish targets, such as peacock bass, largemouth bass, snook and tarpon. All are likely players on nearly all the city’s waterbodies.
